FAQ, Videos and more

The reasons for the popularity of multifunctional tables are obvious: they are flexible and mobile work tables. MFTs are lighter in construction than traditional planing and workbenches - the base is usually made of aluminium rails - and often equipped with wheels or castors so that they can be moved around the workshop or construction site as needed. Some models can even be folded up for transport. Such foldable multifunctional tables are popular with do-it-yourselfers who only need a work table occasionally and otherwise want to store it in a space-saving way.

The name says it all.

In many woodworking shops today (both commercial and private), it is becoming increasingly common to find one (or more) multifunctional tables alongside the traditional workbench. Users who work almost exclusively with power tools and stationary machines sometimes even dispense with the workbench altogether and work only on multifunctional tables and other work tables.

Construction of a Multifunctions table.

These work tables are multifunctional mainly because of two special features of their construction. The worktop (usually made of MDF or a coated wood-based panel) has a perforated grid. A variety of clamping tools, stops, guide rails and other auxiliary devices can be inserted into these holes to securely fix the workpiece during machining or to guide tools along it. Since the perforated grid usually extends over the entire table surface, larger and irregularly shaped workpieces can also be clamped.

The holes of this grid usually have a diameter of 20 mm, which is now becoming the standard compared to a diameter of 19 mm. We offer an almost large spectrum of accessories for 20 mm holes, ranging from simple bench dogs to complete clamping systems, toggle clamps and hold-downs to support rails for the multifunction table. This variety of accessories ensures that the multifunctional table really lives up to its name.

The frame of many multifunctional tables consists (either at the edges of the work surface or in its entirety) of aluminium profile rails with T-slots. This results in a variety of further mounting options for the above-mentioned auxiliary devices. In this way, the multifunctional table opens up a third dimension for clamping.

Multifunctions Table Vario Bench

A special feature in this context is our multifunctional table Vario-Bench, which shows its strengths above all when cutting material with the hand-held circular saw, but also when working with the manually guided router. The holes in the perforated worktop are not arranged in a right-angled grid as in other models, but in a special pattern, thus enabling precise sawing or routing at any desired angle to the workpiece edge.

Build your own Mulitfunctions Table

In addition to a range of prefabricated multifunction tables from various manufacturers (including the Festool MFT and the sauter Vario-Bench), we also stock all the components you need to build a table yourself exactly to your own specifications and dimensions. With our multifunctional table configurator, the possibilities of a work table tailored to your needs are even extended.

In addition to the configurator, we also offer you the option of designing your own individual MFT using the Vario-Master steel template developed by us. The steel template serves as a basis for an MDF worktop, for example. After wear and tear, you can create a new worktop at any time. The steel template offers the same advantages as the Vario-Bench (see above), namely accurate-angle and precise sawing.
