Screw Extractors

Screw Extractors

The GRABIT series screw extractors from Boa can be used in any drilling machine with adjustable speed and clockwise or anti-clockwise rotation. They each have two tips that are used one after the other.

  • First, the peeling tip is used to cut a conical recess in the defective screw head or (if the head is turned off) in the shaft.
  • Then turn the extractor upside down and place the extracting tip into this recess to unscrew the screw in counterclockwise rotation.

Screw extractors: help in an emergency

There are tools that you only need occasionally, but then they are absolutely indispensable - when you need them, you absolutely need them. Substitute solutions either do not exist at all, or they are not really satisfactory. The screw extractor is such a tool. No workshop should be without it. Whether in furniture making or restoration, in interior finishing or metal construction: how quickly is the head of a wood screw damaged or the head of a machine screw unscrewed?

The screw is stuck in the workpiece and can no longer be loosened. Without a screw extractor (sometimes also called a left-hand screw extractor or screw remover) you can hardly get any further. All attempts to remove the screw with a makeshift solution carry a great risk of damaging the surrounding surfaces or even the workpiece itself in which the screw is stuck.

Damaged screws up to a thread diameter of 12 mm can be easily removed with the screw extractors from the manufacturer Boa. The GRABIT PRO screw removers, made of high-alloy and hardened tool steel, are available in sets of different sizes and can be used to unscrew most broken screws. Rounded screw heads of all kinds (including Pozidriv, Phillips, slotted, hexagon socket, Torx and Tri-Wing screws) in diameters up to 24 mm are no longer a problem. With the MICRO GRABIT, small specimens of the so-called safety screws can also be unscrewed without the necessary screwdriver - but are destroyed in the process. Which brand should ultimately be used depends on the hardness of the damaged screws.

GRABIT screw extractors

The screw extractors of the standard series GRABIT are especially suitable for damaged screws made of softer metals, such as iron, brass or aluminium. Brass screws are often used in furniture making for fastening fittings, but are known to be damaged very quickly. In this case, the GRABIT screwdriver (or GRABIT MICRO) will help.

GRABIT PRO screw extractor

For defective screws made of harder material, such as alloy steel, we recommend the GRABIT PRO screw extractor set, where the extractors are made of specially hardened tool steel. Due to the longer service life of the left-hand screw extractors, this series is also suitable for use in the professional sector.

GRABIT MICRO screw extractors

Small screws, such as the mentioned fitting screws in furniture construction and many so-called safety screws can be unscrewed up to a thread diameter of 3 mm with the screw extractors of the GRABIT MICRO series.
