Respiratory filters are divided into 3 protection classes according to European Standards-EN143 They are graded by the percentace of clean ait that travels through the filter.
P1 = 80 %, Use when little fine dust is created
P2 = 94 %,Use when fine dust is created
P3 = 99.95 %, Use when producing large amounts of fine dust
Protection against gases and vapours
Respiratory masks that protect against gases and vapours are equipped with activated carbon filters which absorb the hazardous substances. They are rated by the type and concentration of gasses they protect against.
You should check exactly what gasses you are liable to have to confront and any legal requirements in your country before making your choice.
