FAQ, Videos and more

The jigsaw has a short, narrow saw blade underneath. The edge of the workpiece can be cut staight into,. It is also used for internal cuts in a workpiece, for example when fitting a sink into a kitchen worktop. Normally a small bore hole must be drilled to allow the blade in. The small width of the saw blade allows relativily tight curves to be cut.

Jigsaw variants

One variant is the Pendulum Jigsaw, which are available from Triton, Bosch and Festool. The saw blade oscillates back and forth allowing the sawdust to be better ejected. The sawing performance is significantly higher compared to a saw without a pendulum stroke. It is also possible to make plunge cuts with Pendulum Jigsaws.  By tilting the blade forward it is possible to cut through the surface without a bore hole. Caution should be taken as there is a chance of kickback for the inexperenced user.
