FAQ, Videos and more

In addition to an extensive range of wood drills (wood twist drills, Forstner drills, auger bits etc.) we also offer drills for metals and plastics. Drilling is made easy by our drilling templates (including for concealed hinges), angle drill heads and drill stands.

If the drill holes are to take screws, the large range of cordless screwdrivers and the selection of screwdriver bits in our range will help. If a damaged screw should cause problems, our screw extractors are a proven solution.

Applications of drills

When woodworking, you will always have to drill holes. Most of the time, the drill hole serves as a preliminary stage for another job - only rarely is the hole already the end purpose (as with the finger hole in the front piece of a drawer). Rather, one usually drills to insert screws, dowels or something similar. You want to achieve a similar purpose when you drill a hole to accommodate a fitting (such as a pot hinge, door peephole or ramp sleeve). Finally, various drills are also commonly used to remove larger amounts of wood before using other tools to do the fine work of making a joint (a good example is the slot in a tapped joint).

The wood drill

The wood drills form the core of our drill range. They can often also be used for drilling into plastics. But also when it comes to drilling and boring metals, we offer you corresponding drill bits in the usual high quality.

Our range of wood drills includes a large selection of the classic wood twist drills, various Forstner drills as well as auger bits. In addition to these three most common wood drill types, you can also get drills for special tasks: Countersink drills, hardware and hinge hole drills, slot drills and drills for CNC systems.

Use of drills in drilling machines

While the term "drill" also includes the nail drill, which is a tool in its own right, we usually think primarily of tools that are used in some form of drilling machine. All the drills mentioned above belong to this type. To use them, we offer you a selection of high-quality, tried-and-tested cordless screwdrivers and drill drivers from the manufacturers Mafell, Festool and Trend. They not only stand out for their high manufacturing quality, but also offer an extensive range of accessories specially adapted to the drills.

Helpful drilling accessories

Drilling stands and position lasers

Any kind of woodworking is always about precision. This is especially true when drilling, as deviations of even fractions of a millimetre can lead to misfits when joining a screwed or doweled joint, for example. Accordingly, we offer you an extensive range of aids to increase the accuracy of your drilling.

First and foremost here are the drill stands, with which you can turn your drill into a semi-stationary drill. This ensures that the drill is exactly perpendicular to the surface of the workpiece (with some drill stands you can even choose any other angle and keep it exactly). Drill stands can also be used (unlike a pillar drill) in the centre of larger wood-based panels and other workpieces. If you clamp a router motor in a drill stand instead of the drill, you expand the range of uses even further and get very precise drilling.

Most drill stands have markings in the base to align the drilling point precisely with previously scribed lines. You can go a step further by using a position laser, which uses state-of-the-art technology to make drilling simple, fast and highly accurate.

Drilling templates and pocket hole drilling

With or without a drill stand, a range of drilling templates can be used to accurately apply various drill holes. We stock drilling jigs for door locks and strike plates, dowel joints, pot hinges, furniture fittings and row drilling in the 32 mm system. The drilling templates for pocket hole drilling from Kreg deserve special mention in this context. Pocket holes are now also being used more and more frequently to make wood joints. However, it is very difficult to drill a pocket hole precisely with the usual tools or even freehand. Kreg offers a well-coordinated system of various drilling templates, drills, self-tapping screws and other accessories that make it child's play to make pocket holes.

Screwdriver bits and angle screwdrivers

Often you will not only use the cordless drill to drill a hole, but you will also want to screw a screw into this hole at the same time. We offer an extensive range of screwdriver bits of different quality levels, with which you are up to all screwing tasks. Screwdriving is made easier by magnetic and quick-change holders for the bits and by various angle screwdriving devices, which make it possible to screw in a screw even in confined spaces. Drilling in such places is usually done before the final assembly of the workpiece, but if this is not possible, an angle attachment can also be used.
