Collets are the bit holder on a router motor.
Depending on the shaft diameter of the router cutter, a different collet with the respective clamping dimension for the shaft is required. For our CNC cutters there are collets from 3 mm to 10 mm or 1/4".
Depending on the model and manufacturer, the shape of the collet for the router may differ technically. Also the quality of the tool holders is often very different. In our online shop for routing tools we only carry collets of the original manufacturers and no simple replicas. Therefore the exact and safe fit of the cutters in the motor is always guaranteed.
Industrial collets should be cleaned from time to time in a little solvent after use, re-protected against corrosion and never opened by force. Damaged collets should be replaced immediately, otherwise there is a risk of further damage and the router bit falling out.
