A Sliding Compound Mitre Saw is used for woodworking and, depending on the model, can also be used for cutting non-ferrous metals. For these applications, a circular saw blade is used to cut through the material. The saw blade is matched to the material to be processed. The cutting direction of a cross-cut saw and a mitre saw is always from top to bottom. During this process, the workpiece is cut off.
For mitre cuts, the saw has a rotating saw plate, and for compound cuts it also has a tilting saw blade. If the saw has a pull function, wider workpieces can be processed by pulling the saw blade towards the user, lowering it and guiding it backwards through the material. Saw blades for cross-cut saws usually have a negative rake angle.
