Diamond sharpening tools

Many users who sharpen their tools manually, i.e. not using a grinding machine, now use diamond sharpening stones instead of the traditional water or oil stones or a normal sharpening steel. There are good reasons for this:

• Diamond sharpening stones do not wear, so there is no danger of spoiling the tool edge on a hollow-ground stone
• The extraordinary hardness of the monocrystalline diamond coating allows even carbide-tipped and HSS tools to be sharpened effectively
• Depending on the grit, the diamond sharpening stones remove material very quickly or allow a very fine grinding up to honing and polishing.
