DRILLING AND COUNTERSINKING IN ONE OPERATION
A countersink drill allows you to drill the through hole for a screw and countersink the top of that hole at the same time, without changing tools. Countersink drills are also essential for screw fastened joints, because pre-drilling and countersinking the screw hole at the same time prevents the wood from splitting.
Countersink drills can be used in the drill or in the cordless screwdriver, and for series drilling also in the pillar drill or in the drill stand. In the latter case in particular, a countersink drill with a depth stop is recommended to ensure consistent drilling and countersinking depths. But this variant of the countersink drill also proves its worth for individual holes.
The three-step drill is particularly efficient, cutting the through hole for the screw, the pilot hole in the lower workpiece and the countersink at the upper end of the drill hole in one go.
