If you place the MT Centre Gauge on the edge of your material and press the two sides together, the marking bar is perfectly centred on your material. It cannot be any other way. This is due to the simple geometry of a parallelogram. Since a hole is milled in the centre of each bar, you only need to insert a pencil into the hole and push it to mark the centre of any workpiece. And if you want to create a mortise or tenon in the centre of your workpiece, simply mark both sides of the bar. It's that easy.
