    Chisels and Power Chisels

Chisels, also known as carving irons, are tools for chiseling and engraving in woodworking. Basically a distinction is made between Form A with straight edges and Form B with bevelled edges in the cross-section. The bevelled edges of Form B allow clean cutting out of sharp corners, e.g. at the tine.

    The popular tool - Chisel

The mortise chisel is also used to chisel out tap holes for a mortise joint. Since the blade is used to remove the loose chips, it must have a larger diameter because of the resistance. The chisel is slightly wider on the flat side than on the bevel side to prevent lateral friction during mortising work.

    Electric chisel

Electric mortice chisels are also available. The Arbortech "Power Chisel" with 710 Watt. is suitable for all tasks for which a normal chisel is otherwise used. But it's safer and faster.
