Hinge Sinker Bits & Cylinder Head Drills
A hinge sinker bit oder cylinder head drill is ideal for precise drilling with large diameters, especially for making blind holes or drilling out knot holes. Like the Forstner bit, they are equipped with a centering point.
Unlike the related Forstner bit, however, a hinge sinker bit is less suitable for hand-held drills and more suitable for station operation. This is due to the missing guide or non-existent peripheral cutting edge.
