More Than Just a Product
CNC manufacturing has long since established itself in industrial furniture manufacturing after its use in the metal and plastic processing industries. There, the focus is on precision and rational processes in mass production. The company Shaper, based in San Francisco, California, takes a different approach: it has developed the world's first milling machine with CNC control for mobile, handheld use.
The Shaper Origin consists of a router that can be controlled via a touchscreen with the appropriate software, enabling perfect milling of any contours, engravings, and wood joints. Designs can be created directly on the machine without CAD knowledge but can also be imported from existing CAD or drawing program files.
