Tormek is the Swedish reference for precise sharpening. Since 1973, the company has been developing water-cooled, slow-running sharpening systems that protect the tool edges from overheating and thus promote the longevity of the tool.
What began in the founder Torgny Jansson's garage as a solution for difficult-to-sharpen woodworking tools quickly became a modular system consisting of a grinding machine, guide rail, and fixtures. This allows specific angles to be reproducibly applied to knives, chisels, plane irons, turning tools, and axes.
Because at the time of its founding in Sweden, hardly any retailer initially believed in the holistic concept of grinding, Tormek sought international partners early on, thus laying the foundation for a globally valued brand for the precise grinding and sharpening of tools.
