Japanese Saws
Japanese saws are hand saws which, unlike classic wood saws used in the west, cut when the blade is pulled through the wood and not with a pushing movement. The characteristic Japanese Saw teeth are formed as the result of expert grinding. The saw blades of Japanese saws are usually very thin, as they are only under tensile stress they do not bend. The kerf is correspondingly finer and the cutting forces required are much lower.

What are the advantages of Japanese saws?
- Saw blade does not have to resist any tension, therefore these are much finer
- More control over the saw movement, as the Japanese saw works on a pulling motion.
- Pulling movement prevents the saw from getting stuck in the wood and bending
- Japanese razor-sharp teeth produce a smooth saw cut without splinters and tears, no more sanding necessary
