Spiral Slot Cutters - Solid Carbide
The spiral-shaped flute, as known from classic twist drills, enables a continuous pulling cut. This leads to significantly less vibration than classic end mills with vertical cutting edges.
Difference between right-hand and left-hand twist?
Right-hand twist spiral end mills are particularly suitable for a clean milling base and transport chips away quickly and safely to the top. However, chipping may occur on the top of the workpiece.

Spiral flute cutter for CNC machining.
The spiral groove, as known from classic twist drills, enables a continuous pulling cut. This leads to significantly less vibration than classic end mills with vertical cutting edges.
Difference between right-hand and left-hand twist
Right-hand spiral groove cutters are particularly suitable for a clean milling base and transport chips away quickly and safely to the top. However, chipping may occur on the top of the workpiece. Left-hand spiral groove cutters, on the other hand, prevent tear-out on the top of the workpiece, but push the chips downwards onto the groove base.
Cutters with left-hand spiral groove prevent tear-out on the top of the workpiece, but push the chips downwards onto the groove base.
Right-hand twist: Chip removal upwards.
Left-handed twist: Chip removal downwards.
Advantages of the DIA® PERFORMANCE finishing cutters.
- Stand life 4-5 x higher than solid carbide
- Right-hand twist for clean groove base
- Spiral cutting edges upwards for fast pull-through.
- Excellent end milling results
- Better chip clearance
- Low coefficient of friction for low working temperature
- Machining of aluminium and plastic materials without lubricant
Excellent results with the following materials:
- Hardwood, and softwood
- Mineral materials (e.g. CORIAN)
- Plastics (acrylic materials, Plexiglas, HDPE)
- Composite materials (HPL, AluDibond, Trespa ...)
