Right-hand twist spiral end mills are particularly suitable for a clean milling base and transport chips away quickly and safely to the top. However, chipping may occur on the top of the workpiece.

The spiral groove, as known from classic twist drills, enables a continuous pulling cut. This leads to significantly less vibration than classic end mills with vertical cutting edges.
Difference between right-hand and left-hand twist
Right-hand spiral groove cutters are particularly suitable for a clean milling base and transport chips away quickly and safely to the top. However, chipping may occur on the top of the workpiece. Left-hand spiral groove cutters, on the other hand, prevent tear-out on the top of the workpiece, but push the chips downwards onto the groove base.
